HERE’S TO HEALTHY SMILES!

One of the very best features your teeth can offer is providing you with a lovely smile. But just as with other areas of the body, they are subject to diseases and malformations that need therapeutic and corrective care.  At the office of Ortho Inc,we specialize in orthodontics and the alignment of the teeth to give patients well-aligned, attractive, and functional smiles.

Orthodontists, like dentists, both are involved in improving a patient’s oral health, but while dentists focus on the health of the teeth, gums, and surrounding bone, orthodontists specialize in correcting malocclusions and underlying bone structure issues, such as jaw growth discrepancies or a high-vaulted, narrow palate (roof of the mouth).

Orthodontists are particularly attuned to issues affecting the dental and jaw development in growing children. As skilled specialists, they can identify and treat malocclusions, skeletal jaw discrepancies, harmful oral habits, and the premature loss of baby teeth. They can also identify enlarged tonsils and adenoids, mouth breathing, and other issues that can contribute to speech impediments, tongue thrusting, swallowing patterns, or a sleep disorder in children known as pediatric sleep apnea  — in which your child’s breathing is partially or completely blocked during sleep.

Working as part of an interdisciplinary medical team that may include the child’s pediatrician and a pulmonologist, orthodontists are able to diagnose pediatric sleep apnea and provide corrective treatment, such as the use of oral appliances, which are custom-made dental mouthpieces that a child wears during sleep. These prevent the air obstruction, helping the child to breathe easier and sleep better.
